Facing the Divide: Shavuot and Pentecost
Pentecost is a little-known holiday in many Christian denominations. Its connection to the founding of the church from the Book of Acts is well-known but in fact, Pentecost is rooted in the Hebrew Scriptures. It is a holiday, known in Hebrew as Shavuot, that is celebrated faithfully by the Jewish people since Biblical times.
Sondra Oster Baras, an Orthodox Jew who has devoted her life to reaching out to Christians all over the world to bless Israel, shares the meaning of Shavuot with her Christian friends, even as Kimberly Troup, Christian Zionist director of CFOIC Heartland’s US office, and Tommy Waller, Christian Zionist director of HaYovel, share their understanding of Pentecost. Love Sondra’s extinction. I have know the two were connected but the 7 week completion is a very powerful connection.
Thank you guys I got so much from this. I knew what Acts pentecost was. But connection it to Moses law brought a new understanding.
Exodus 24:9-11 (NASB)
9 Then Moses went up with Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel,
10 and they saw the God of Israel; and under His feet there appeared to be a pavement of sapphire, as clear as the sky itself.

HIS IS THE WEDDING SUPPER OF THE LAMB. THE IN-GATHERING OF FIRST FRUITS OF THE HARVEST ..THE FIRST WHEAT HARVEST.

I had NO idea that David’s tomb is in the Upper Room where they had all gathered. Jesus truly is a Jew first and .foremost.Mary was amonst them and in our village she is remembered as the Mother at Pentecost.Remember she was still grieving at that time.
Many Christians do recognize the the Day of Pentecost as the birthday of the Church, but they do not notice that the baptism that remitted sins and put people into the Church was in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38) and was preached from Jerusalem. The majority of Christians prefer to follow what Jesus said in Galilee (Matthew 28:16-20). The word of God should come forth out of Zion, not Galilee. Clearly there has been a misunderstanding. Matthew 28:19, Luke 24:47, Acts 2:38 do not agree unless you realize that, in Galilee, Jesus was talking about his own name. There is no one day that Trinitarian believers can point to as the birthday of their doctrine.
