CARING FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
It all began fifty years ago when Chaviva and Tzvi Tzachor, residents of Kiryat Arba, one of the first communities established in Judea. adopted an abandoned baby girl who was blind and suffering from severe physical disabilities. Chaviva and Tzvi gave this special girl all the love she needed to grow and develop. However, taking her all the way to Jerusalem to receive all the necessary paramedical services and treatment she needed was quite a challenge. Moreover, with each treatment, their financial burdens including childcare costs for their other children, continued to increase.
Determined to provide their precious daughter with all the treatment she needed, close to home, the Tzachors established the Neve Avraham Child Development Center in their small apartment. The center quickly outgrew their home, and they moved to a larger facility where it continues to this day, to treat special-needs children residing in Kiryat Arba and other nearby communities in the Hebron Hills region.
Today, Neve Avraham continues to provide new therapeutic treatments to better care for the specific needs of every special-needs child at the center. To ensure that services are of the highest quality and in full compliance with licensing requirements, the center needs your help to fund expert consultants and regular mandatory professional development courses for its staff members. Over the years, our generous CFOIC Heartland donors have helped cover the costs of training staff as well as new therapeutic equipment and treatment at Neve Avraham, all of which are vital in assisting the children.
