Dear Friend of Israel,
As we enter the month of July we are looking forward to a dramatic change in the status of Judea and Samaria — Israel is slated to apply its sovereignty to the Jewish communities in the heart of this Biblical area! While this is a step that we have long hoped and prayed for, there is no question that, in the short term, we will be faced with threats and challenges that demand preparedness.
The Palestinian Authority has been threatening increased terrorism as a result of this step. Jordan has been making noises about re-evaluating the peace treaty with Israel. And leaders in Judea and Samaria have expressed concern for the fate of some 15 small communities that may well be left more isolated than before.
Thanks to you, and generous people just like you, the people of Judea and Samaria have benefitted from education and special education programs, parks and playgrounds, and senior citizens centers. Needy families have received food coupons and food parcels. You have been a bastion of Christian support for the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria!
Unique to Judea and Samaria is the complicated security situation. Again, thanks to you and supporters like yourselves, sophisticated camera systems, communications devices and emergency medical equipment have been supplied to communities throughout the area for years. And we have documented proof that lives have been saved as a result!
In anticipation of the increased challenges that sovereignty will bring, I am asking you to go the extra mile for us today. We need to help the most isolated communities by supporting children and vulnerable families and by strengthening their internal solidarity and cohesiveness. And we must ensure that every community is protected, providing them with the surveillance and security equipment they need most.
