How are people coping in Israel?

Even though the Six Day War happened before I was born, it shaped much of my life.  I grew up hearing stories of the miracles that took place during those short, yet brutal days of fighting. My father was gripped by the miracles from that time.  He saw the redemption of Biblical Israel as a prophetic event of monumental proportions. So he studied it, and it was a regular discussion topic throughout my childhood.  God was preparing me in ways I couldn’t even imagine, because He knew that I would spend my adult life helping the lands that were redeemed during the Six Day War blossom and flourish.

This week I ran across an infographic and it shows how great the miracle truly was. The sheer numbers (or lack thereof!) are mind boggling.  And yet, that is the point, isn’t?  If Israel would have been “Goliath” instead of “David” it wouldn’t have been a miracle at all.   What does God say, “Not by might, not by (human) power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord”. (Zech 4:6)  I love what the New Living Translation adds, “says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies”!  Yes!!

Let God arise and His enemies be scattered.  There are many in the world today that work diligently to make Israel go away.  They want nothing more than to finish what Hitler started, to wipe the Jews from off the face of the earth, to push them into the Sea, never to be seen or heard from again.

However, God in His infinite wisdom has a plan and Israel and the Jewish people are not going anywhere!  They are here to stay.  The land of Israel, the rebuilding of the Jewish nation, and the return of the Jewish people from the four corners of the world are a testament that God is a covenant-keeping God.  What He says, He will do.

In that I take great comfort.  I know that I serve a God who never changes His mind.  He isn’t fickle.  He isn’t capricious.  He is real, tangible, and concerned with the affairs of mankind.  Each morning when I wake up and I look around at all that needs to be done, I can look beyond the minutia of raising children and know that there is more than the humdrum of life.  There is a bigger purpose, a bigger picture than any one individual can accomplish. And yet, we all have a part to play.  The everyday moments tie into God’s purpose for my life, His purpose for all of creation.

As we celebrate 52 years since the redemption of Judea and Samaria and the re-unification of Jerusalem this month we can look at the miracles taking place every minute of every day on the mountains of Israel. The families who have built the communities, populated them with children, are going about their everyday life fulfilling prophecy!!  And the exciting part is that you and I get to be part of this great story as well! Every time we visit a community, donate to a project, or tell a friend about these great people and these beautiful communities we are also fulfilling prophecy. What could be better than that?  Thank you for joining with me in this great adventure as together we can watch God’s plan unfold.

I encourage you to come visit Israel with CFOIC Heartland.  You will experience the Land like never before.  Click here for more information on touring Judea and Samaria.
