How are people coping in Israel?

Shortly after returning from Egypt to the hills of southern Samaria, the Biblical patriarch Abraham found himself in a dilemma with his nephew Lot. Neither Abraham nor Lot could find a mechanism to bring an end to the quarreling between their respective herdsmen. Abraham proposed a solution——Lot and his herdsmen would move elsewhere in one direction while Abraham and his herdsmen would go the other way. Finding the appeal of what was then a most lush, and fertile landscape, Lot took his herdsmen southeast to Sodom. After they parted ways, God reassured Abraham that his own progeny will be numerous and inherit the land of Canaan for eternity (Genesis 13:14-15).

Approximately 3,800 years later, on the hills overlooking Jericho to the east and not far from where Abraham and Lot went their separate ways, a band of pioneers established Alon in April of 1990. Named after the late interim Israeli prime minister Yigal Allon, the community of Alon stands as an emblem and testament of God’s promise to Abraham. Located at a very strategic spot in the Biblical Heartland, the bold pioneers of Alon, together with the neighboring residents of Kfar Adumim and Nofei Prat, help guarantee that Judea to the South, Samaria to the north and the Jordan Valley to the east, all remain firmly united with one another.

As epitomized by their centers of education and culture, Alon’s pioneers have dedicated themselves to building a model for the Biblical Heartland and the rest of Israel of unity between Jews no matter their level of religious practice. At Alon’s “Ein Prat” seminary, Israelis from all religious backgrounds work together through in-depth studying of the Bible to construct a unifying national identity.

CFOIC Heartland has played a crucial role in helping the residents of Alon do their part in keeping both the Land and People of Israel united. Generous CFOIC Heartland donors have contributed to Alon’s central library, which now functions as a cultural center for spiritual, educational and social enrichment programming that serves the entire community. Alon’s pioneers want to take the next step by giving to the future of Alon. The families of Alon want to renovate and equip their indoor play center for their children to have a safe, fun place to play out of the blistering Israeli sun. But they need your help to make this vision a reality! Please give generously today to the children, the next generation of dedicated pioneers in Alon!
