How are people coping in Israel?

Sondra and Danny are excited to share with you the newest episode of CFOIC Heartland’s Virtual Tours! In this program, you will journey to the eastern edge of Israel, the Jordan Valley.  There, Sondra and Danny will host you in the Biblical site of Qasr al-Yahud, where the Jewish People first crossed the Jordan River and entered the Land of Israel.  From there, you will visit the Jewish community of Gilgal, a beautiful oasis in the Jordan Valley desert. You don’t want to miss it!

I remember well my first visit to Qasr al-Yahud, just before it was opened to the public. Located on the Jordanian border, for years it was considered too dangerous to visit.  As I stood there, on the edge of the Jordan River, I could envision my Biblical ancestors crossing into the Promised Land for the first time.  And then I looked across the now narrow river and saw, just a stone’s throw away, a Jordanian soldier.  A shiver passed along my spine.

And that is the reality of the Jordan Valley today – Biblical Return on the one hand, serious security challenges on the other.  But the Jordan Valley residents have never been afraid of challenges.  And one of their greatest challenges today is to help at-risk teen-agers reconnect – to their families, their schools and to society.  You can help us help them get the therapy they so desperately need to become contributing members of society.

The form is not published.

May God bless you richly!
