Watchmen on the Walls: Praying for Israel’s Elections
“I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night” (Isaiah 62:6).
Israel is approaching a historic election. Instead of watching from the sidelines, scrolling through headlines or voicing opinions, I want to challenge you to stand in the gap and PRAY.
As Israelis head to the polls on Oct 27, 2026, God is looking for watchmen. These are not soldiers or politicians, but ordinary believers, like you and me, who will stand in the gap through prayer. A watchman does not control the battle’s outcome. He stays awake, stays alert, and sounds the alarm in prayer. Today, that calling is yours.
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,” writes the psalmist (Psalm 122:6). Paul urges the church to offer “supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings” for all those in authority, “that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life” (1 Timothy 2:1-2). Elections are moments when a nation’s leadership and direction hang in the balance. I can’t remember a day when prayer was more urgently needed.
We pray as people who believe that “the king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord” (Proverbs 21:1). God is not surprised by ballots or coalitions. He is sovereign over nations, and He invites us to partner with Him through intercession.
I ask you to join me in praying specifically for Israel every day, for the next six days leading up to October 27.
10/21/2026 I – Integrity. Pray for leaders who love truth, hate corruption, and govern with righteousness and justice. Pray for voting integrity, that the people of Israel will vote with conviction and follow the integrity of their hearts, that they will not be swayed by lies, deception, and manipulation. Pray for integrity to prevail and for plots and evil plans to be revealed.
10/22/2026 S – Safety. Pray for protection over every family, soldier, and child, and for peace within Israel’s borders. “May there be peace within your walls” (Psalm 122:7). Pray for safety as Israelis across the globe are traveling home to Israel to cast their ballots. Pray for safety at the voting booths and polls. That there will be no terror attacks, violence, or rioting to disrupt the election.
10/23/2026 R – Reconciliation. Pray for healing between Jew and Arab, secular and religious, left and right, that hatred would give way to understanding. Pray for reconciliation – within families split by political disagreements, and within the nation fractured by the intense pressures of the past three years.
10/24/2026 A – Awareness. Pray that hearts across the land would turn to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. That they would have a new sense of awareness of what God has called them to be, as people and as a nation. That Israel would truly be a “light unto the nations” (Isaiah 42:6).
10/25/2026 E – Election. Pray for a free, fair, and peaceful vote, and that God’s purposes would prevail in the choices made. “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord” (Proverbs 21:1). Pray that Israel will maintain peace on Election Day, that any enemy plan will be revealed, and that every evil plot will be thwarted.
10/26/2026 L – Leadership. Pray for wisdom for those who will govern, that like Solomon they would ask for a discerning heart (1 Kings 3:9). Pray with fervency for the office of Prime Minister. Who will lead Israel in the days ahead? Whoever the leaders are, pray that they will have favor with God and man, supernatural wisdom and strength to lead God’s people as the Godly Prophets and Kings used to lead Israel into victory over their enemies.
Prayer is never wasted. It moves your heart from anxiety to trust and from spectating to participating in what God is doing in the Land of Israel. You may not be able to cast a single ballot in Israel, but together we can lift up a thousand prayers.
Take your post. Set your alarm if you must. Let your voice rise day and night, and refuse to be silent until Jerusalem is established and made a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62:7). Join me for the next week as I pray for Israel. Every day I will be leading a LIVE Facebook and Zoom meeting to PRAY for Israel at 1 pm MDT, 3 pm EDT, 8 pm UK, 10 pm Israel, 6 am Australia If you can join that would be amazing, if you can’t, then I hope you will take a few minutes to pray each day this week for Israel.
