Is there a Holiday of Love?

The holiday of love – Valentine’s Day is widely celebrated all over the world. In the US, it has become another of many commercialized holidays when the greeting card, chocolate and flower industries make a killing. But is there a religious basis to Valentine’s Day? What kind of love is actually being celebrated on that day? And what do Jews do on Valentine’s Day? Join us for answers to these and more questions about the holiday of love that falls in the middle of February.

Sondra Oster Baras, an Orthodox Jew who has devoted her life to reaching out to Christians all over the world to bless Israel, will provide a Jewish and Biblical perspective on the holiday of love, while Kimberly Troup, Christian Zionist director of CFOIC Heartland’s US office, and Tommy Waller, Christian Zionist director of HaYovel, will share some of the Christian history and current customs surrounding Valentine’s Day.
