About Hermesh

Established in 1984 in northwestern Samaria, the community of Hermesh functions as a strategic buffer that strengthens the People of Israel’s presence in the Dothan Valley. Overlooking the Biblical site of Dothan, Hermesh is also located near the site of Narbata, a Jewish center of life dating back to the Second Temple era. Hermesh was built with the vision of its founding pioneers who dreamed of creating a thriving community in the region for future generations. However, a devastating terrorist attack in 2002 killing three residents coupled with increased hostility at the height of the Second Intifada drove half the community to leave Hermesh, leaving only about 30 families remaining. Thankfully, new families have gradually moved into the community in recent years, helping to revive the very spirit of hope and determination that defined Hermesh’s founding!
