Just under 3,300 years ago, the ancient city of Anatot was selected to serve as a center of spirituality in the Land of Israel. After the Land was liberated from the idolatrous Canaanite nations, Anatot was designated as one of the cities allotted within the tribal territory of Benjamin to be reserved for the priests of Israel (Joshua 21:18–19).
Despite the inevitable destruction that was coming upon Jerusalem and all of Judah, an imprisoned Jeremiah nevertheless conveyed a message of redemption. From the very prison yard where he was incarcerated, Jeremiah, with witnesses present, wrote a bill of sale, acquiring the field in Anatot that belonged to his cousin Hanamel. Immediately thereafter, Jeremiah prophesied that “houses and fields and vineyards shall again be bought in this land!” (Jeremiah 32:15).
In that very time of abject despair and hopelessness, Jeremiah’s purchase of Hanamel’s land served as a symbolic affirmation of God’s promise that the inhabitants of Judah would return to their Land and flourish there once again. Indeed, decades later, Jeremiah’s words were fulfilled in the most uplifting fashion, with the “men of Anatot” returning from Babylonian captivity to their homes! (Ezra 2:23)

One of the many families striving to bring Jeremiah’s prophecy to complete fruition is that of Chana Musai. For over 10 years, Chana, along with her husband and six children, has lived in the community of Bet Hagai, located in the Hebron Hills region of Judea.
“We are not here for nothing,” says Chana. “We are here by Divine decree!”
The youth in Bet Hagai are bringing Jeremiah’s promised restoration of Judea to fulfillment!
Serving as the secretary of the local youth village for teenage boys at-risk, Chana is always motivated to support those around her who are in need of help.
“In Bet Hagai, being part of a community means knowing there will always be someone else nearby who can offer a helping hand,” Chana said. “I aspire to do just that at the youth village.”
Chana takes great comfort in knowing that, together with her neighbors in Bet Hagai, she plays an important role in protecting the Land of Israel.
“Our presence here in the Hebron Hills, which, in practice, determines the borders of the Land of Israel, creates strength and security in other parts of the Land,” she explained.
“We are the gatekeepers and border guards of the Land of Israel, and in that role, I could not feel more at peace!”
