A Letter from Shmuel, August 2026

When we at CFOIC Heartland speak about the people of Judea and Samaria, we often use the word “resilience.” It is the resilience to build a home in a place that is not always easy, driven by faith, conviction, and a deep love for the Land of Israel. It is the resilience to continue living, raising families, and putting down roots dea letter from Shmuelspite the constant threat of terror.

But what we witnessed in Havat Gilad on July 18 revealed a level of resilience beyond anything we had ever seen before. More than 30 homes, businesses, and livelihoods were reduced to ashes. Several other dozen homes and businesses sustained significant damage. Yet instead of despair, we witnessed extraordinary faith. We saw families thanking God for His blessings even as they stood amid unimaginable loss. We heard people say, “We accept both the good and the difficult, trusting that there is purpose even in this, and we will rebuild stronger than before.”

Among them was Yael Shevach, who years ago lost her husband to terrorism and devoted herself to raising their children in the home they had built together. That home is now gone. We also met two brothers who watched the lumber business they had spent years building burn before their eyes. As the Sabbath ended, and while the flames consumed their life’s work, they recited Havdalah (the blessing that marks the conclusion of the Sabbath), continuing to praise God with unwavering faith.

These moments redefine the meaning of resilience.

Now it is our turn.

In the days ahead, we will do everything we can to help the families of Havat Gilad rebuild their homes, restore their businesses, and renew their community. We have no doubt that, with God’s help and your partnership, Havat Gilad will rise from these ashes stronger than ever.

Thank you, as always, for standing with the people of Judea and Samaria!
