Shabbat Shalom 

Much of the Torah is about sacrificing animals, and this is especially obvious in the book of Leviticus. In times with no Temple, one must ask: what is the essence of sacrificing animals? One opinion is that the sacrificial system is a slap in the face to idolatry. Another is that giving one’s personal property to God physically allows the individual to draw nearer spiritually.

Shmuel starts to unravel the mysteries of this ancient practice as we enter a new book of the Torah. Welcome to Vayikra and Shabbat Shalom!
