About Mechola

The pioneers of Mechola were the first to build or restore a community in the Jordan Valley after the Biblical Heartland was liberated in 1967. Established in 1968, Mechola presents as a remarkable pioneering achievement. With strong resolve and commitment, the young, religious founders of Mechola transformed what was then a barren location with extreme heat and scarcity of water into a thriving center for agriculture. Today, Mechola is a flourishing multi-generational community, with children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren of the community’s original pioneers continuing their legacy of faith, resilience and agricultural success.
