HEART OF BENJAMIN CAMPS

Every child eagerly looks forward to Spring break and Summer vacation. While counting down the remaining days, they struggle to contain their excitement for the fun and incredibly entertaining activities that await them. The Heart of Benjamin program in Ofra, which helps families of severely disabled children navigate a myriad of educational and social challenges, is committed towards ensuring that special-needs children have the same level of anticipation for Spring break and Summer vacation that all other children do.

Each year, Heart of Benjamin offers a unique program over Passover and during Summer that is designed to give children with special needs a most memorable and entertaining experience. Every camper at Heart of Benjamin is assigned at least one, and sometimes two counselors, guaranteeing each child maximum attention, care and love.

The program’s outings and nature hikes provide campers with opportunities to improve their social skills and to truly feel included in a community of their peers, giving them all a unique sense of value and purpose. With counselors always present to accompany and assist the campers including those on wheelchairs and unable to walk, every child is assured the full opportunity to participate in all activities of the Passover and summer camps. Heart of Benjamin’s Passover and Summer camp program is most definitely the highlight of the year for its campers!

  • FOUNDED: 1975
  • BIBLICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Named after the ancient Jewish town in the territory belonging to the tribe of Benjamin, mentioned in Joshua 18
  • POPULATION: 4,000
  • Location: On the border between Samaria and the Benjamin region, between Jerusalem and Shechem

Thankfully, Ofra’s local council and other donors have subsidized a portion of the Passover and summer camp program. However, Heart of Benjamin needs your help to cover the outstanding costs of running its Passover and Summer Camp program for special-needs children. Properly caring for and supervising each one of the campers requires a great deal of time, staff and logistical support. With your gift, you will play a key role in giving these children a most fulfilling, entertaining and enriching experience over Passover and Summer!
